Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos is a Cape Town based company providing a wide range of piano services with an additional specialisation in the rebuilding and servicing of Steinways. Services include home and concert tuning, repairs and servicing, piano moving and cabinet refinishing. We are also agents and distributors for KAWAI, the prestigious Japanese brand of acoustic upright and grand pianos, digital pianos and keyboards.

Company Profile Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos has evolved over the last 12 years from being a 1-room workshop in Ian’s house to the largest specialist piano business in South Africa. Four of our technicians have attended training at Steinway in Hamburg. Ian is also the only technician in the country to have been to The Steinway Academy for Concert Technicians for training with Steinway's Chief Concert Technician, Georges Amman. Only a few candidates are accepted annually from around the world to go to The Steinway Academy. With this level of expertise we rank with top international piano companies and we provide the technical support for the Steinway agent for Southern Africa.

	Ian is a Registered Technician of the American Piano Technicians Guild, for which he passed examinations in Boston in 1995. Working to the rigorous standards of Steinway and the Technicians Guild we are established as the market leaders in all aspects of rebuilding, servicing and maintenance. We are dedicated to sustaining and preserving a tradition of fine workmanship, discipline and detail in our craft. As the sole agent for KAWAI in the Western, Eastern and Northern Cape we carry an extensive range of new pianos and digital instruments in our showroom. KAWAI have been chosen internationally and in South Africa by leading instituions and schools, including Oxford and Cambridge Universities, the South African College of Music at UCT, Rhodes University, Bishops, Herschel, SACS and Westerford.
